Federal Skilled Trades Program: Crafting Your Path to Canadian Dreams

The Federal Skilled Trades Class is a Canadian immigration program explicitly created to recognize the contributions made by skilled tradespeople to Canada's economy and offer permanent residency to qualified individuals.

Specialize in any particular trade, such as technical occupations, supervisory roles in natural resources, agriculture, etc. It acknowledges their significant contributions while offering them a path home.

Eligible Trades

Picture your skills finding a home within the National Occupational Classification's embrace. The following trades are eligible for the Federal Skilled Trades Program:

  • Technical trades and transportation officers and controllers (excluding transportation officers)
  • General trades
  • Supervisors in natural resources, agriculture, and related production
  • Occupations in natural resources and related production
  • Processing, manufacturing, and utility supervisors, as well as utility operators and controllers
  • Central control and process operators, aircraft assemblers, and inspectors (excluding aircraft assemblers and inspectors)
  • Cooks, butchers, bakers
  • Chefs

Program Requirements

  • Language Proficiency: A cornerstone of your journey, achieve Canadian Language Benchmark 5 for speaking & listening and 4 for reading & writing in English or French.
  • Education Enhancement: While formal education isn't mandatory, adding your credentials to your Express Entry profile can boost your score and increase your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply.
  • Job Offer or Certification: You need either a valid job offer of one-year full-time employment or a certificate of qualification issued and verified by a Canadian authority.
  • Work Experience: Your trade experience counts – have at least two years of full-time or equivalent part-time work in a skilled trade within the past five years. This experience should be post-qualification.
  • Proof of Funds: Show you have the resources needed to settle in Canada, proving your commitment to your new journey.
