Overview

About the Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP)

The Post-Graduate Work Permit is an open work permit available to international students who graduate from an eligible Designated Learning Institution (DLI) program. Length depends on your study program (8 months minimum, up to 3 years).

Recent reforms (Nov 2024 onward) restrict PGWP eligibility for many public-college programs — we verify your eligibility before you apply.

Eligibility
  • Completed eligible DLI program of 8+ months
  • Graduated within the last 180 days
  • Valid study permit during your studies
  • Program/field aligned with new PGWP-eligible field requirements (for many colleges)
Documents
  • Job offer, LMIA (if applicable), proof of qualifications, language test (if required), passports, biometrics
